Attar of Nishapur Poetry - The Conference of the Birds - Farsi Calligraphy - Tan Variation

The "Conference of the Birds" (Persian: "منطق‌ الطیر‎"), is a classic Persian epic poem written by the renowned Persian poet Attar of Nishapur, also known as Farid ud-Din Attar. The poem is an allegorical work that tells the story of a group of birds who embark on a journey to find their king, the mythical Simurgh bird, in the land of Qaf.

Each bird represents a different human characteristic or flaw, and their journey is symbolic of the spiritual quest and the challenges one faces in search of divine truth and enlightenment. The birds face trials and tribulations along the way, overcoming various obstacles that mirror the challenges faced by humans in their pursuit of self-discovery and spiritual growth.

As the birds progress on their journey, they undergo transformations and gain insights, ultimately realizing that the Simurgh they seek is within themselves, representing the divine essence that resides within all beings.

The Truth we seek is like a shoreless sea,
Of which your paradise is but a drop.

The Truth is a vast ocean; the paradise of earthly bliss
is only a little drop ; all that is not this ocean is but a distraction.
