Kahlil Gibran's writings on children emphasize the profound connection between generations and the importance of understanding and respecting the unique qualities of each individual, including the young. His insights encourage a deeper appreciation for the role of children in shaping the world and the responsibility of adults to guide and support them on their life journeys.

Gibran suggests that children's essence belongs to the future, and it is beyond the reach of adults. This perspective reflects his belief in the importance of nurturing and guiding children while also recognizing their autonomy and potential.

The following passage was selected, and through the use of Arabic Calligraphy, presents Gibran's thoughts as noted in his celebrated work, "The Prophet".

  • English:

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,

-Khalil Gibran
